Calling 911

911 is to be used for Emergency Calls only

For other calls to the Fire Department (973) 835-0072 Should be used
For calls to the Police Department call (973) 835-0400


When reporting a fire have the following information ready:

1. Location of the fire
2. What type of fire is it
3. If anyone is in danger
4. Do you see smoke or flames
5. Tell the 911 operator anything that can be useful


When reporting a medical emergency:

1. Location of sick or injured person
2. Nature of the injury
3. Tell the 911 operator anything that can be useful


When reporting a vehicle accident:

1. Location of the accident
2. Are there injuries
3. How many vehicles involved
4. Did you see the accident
5. Are there hazards present? i.e. such as liquid spills, trees down, electrical lines down,smoke, trapped people
6. Tell the 911 operator anything that can be useful
